Initially, I thought I would never need surgery to correct my pectus excavatum. However, as I grew into my early teens, the severity of my deformity worsened. I hadn't even fully realized how much the deformity was impacting my life and ability to do the things I love. As the concavity got deeper, my endurance started to diminish and I felt as though there was nothing I could do to stop myself from feeling excessively out of breath. This held me back while exercising and playing sports; two things that are a huge part of my life. I had the Nuss Procedure done on July 26, 2019 by Doctor LoSasso and The Valley Hospital in New Jersey. While the surgery presented some challenges for me in a short term sense, the long term effects are better than I could have asked for. My endurance has increased dramatically since the procedure and I no longer feel a shortness of breath or tightness in my chest. Additionally, I am beyond happy with my cosmetic outcome. Although I underwent the Nuss Procedure for primarily medical reasons, the cosmetic benefit really means the world to me too. Doctor LoSasso did a fantastic job not just with the surgery itself, but also with guiding me through the process leading up to it and supporting me after. He was always happy to answer my questions and was very honest with me. This is most definitely a life changing surgery that is very worth it and with Doctor LoSasso as my surgeon, I never had a doubt about that.

Dr. LoSasso is such a kind and gifted human being. He sets a new standard for what doctors should aspire to be. We are so glad that he was the one who performed our son’s pectus surgery. He and his team make you feel like you’re being taken care of as one of their own family. Our son looks and feels great with his new chest. He’s happy to be able to start playing sports again. We are grateful for the quality of life he will have in his adult years thanks to Dr. LoSasso’s expertise. We cannot forget to mention the nurses at Valley Hospital who are amazing with the post op care.

We are so grateful to find Dr LoSasso! He is one of the best in his field and we were so fortunate that he moved his practice from California to New Jersey., where we live. But quite honestly, we would have traveled anywhere for his service.

My son Kyle had an 8.5 haller which affected his ability to play sports for several years. He was a star soccer player who lost his stamina and ability to run. The deep dent also affected his confidence and overall social skills.

Kyle had a successful surgery with 2 titanium bars. He had a text book recovery and didn’t have as much pain as anticipated. The pain management and PT prescribed by Dr LoSasso made all the difference.

Since having the procedure, he has his confidence and can play any sport that he wants. He’s enjoying his high school years and getting ready for college.
