I suffer from a disorder called Pectus Excavatum..This disorder causes my chest (sternum) to grow inwards instead of across. The severity of the deformity differs per individual and mine is classified as severe.I have difficulty breathing and my heart/chest hurt when I workout, run, or do any kind of normal everyday activity.I've always had this dent or whole in my chest but never knew it was a medical problem until I seen my doctor for dizziness, shortness of breath, and sharp pains in my chest near my heart. I had a correction surgery already once in the summer of 2007 but it didn't work. I am now ready to have surgery again but they will be operate using a different procedure. Its going to be extremely painful and its going to require two steel rods to be placed through my chest for at least 2+ years. My sternum will be raised by the steel rods and held into place. I am confident with my decision to go forward with the surgery taking into consideration all the precautions and I'm asking everyone to walk with me on my journey to my first real full breath.
I'm going to be blogging my whole experience and if you would like to see my progress visit my website:www.aaricklegacy.tumblr.com or add me on Facebook under: Aarick Sepulveda.
